Nehemiah is from the heart of circle city in Indianapolis, Indiana and is pursuing a degree in Neurobiology and Physiology with minors in Spanish for the Professions and Chemistry, as well as certificates in Medical Humanities and Learning Beyond the Classroom.

 

Alongside is his involvement as a member of the service committee for the Barbara Cook Mortar Board, he serves as the president of premier pre-health organization known as Caduceus Club. Moreover, he is an undergraduate researcher assistant in Dr. Nathaniel Mabe’s Lab investigating pediatric neuroblastoma. Furthermore, he is on campus as the Vice President of Education and Connection Committee for Purdue Foundation Student Board, treasurer for Multicultural Science Ambassadors, member of the SOGA/SFAB advisory board, member of medical Spanish Club, honors ambassador for the John Martinson Honors College, and member of the Kidney Detection and Screening Awareness Program. You can further find Nehemiah at Chaney-Hale Hall of Sciences as a General Chemistry + Biochemistry Lab Teacher Assistant or in HAAS where he works as a student worker for a new living learning community called BYTES. Nehemiah also serves beyond Purdue as a volunteer for Elara hospice service. Lastly, Nehemiah is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors society as well. In the past, Nehemiah has served as a member of Student Belonging Advocates through the John Martinson Honors College and an Emergency Department Medical Scribe at IU Health Arnett.

 

Upon graduation, Nehemiah plans to embark on his gap year prior to matriculating into medical school to further hone and develop his skills and perspective.
